Google offers eligible higher-education students in Pakistan a free 12-month membership to Google AI Plus. This guide walks through the official sign-up process, step by step, using Google’s own student offer page and its published Offer Terms.
What is Google AI Plus for students in Pakistan?
Google AI Plus is the plan the Pakistan student offer unlocks. It isn’t the same as Google AI Pro, the tier offered to students in the U.S.; the storage and usage limits differ between the two plans.
What you’ll get
Based on Google’s current Pakistan student page, the free Google AI Plus membership includes:
- 400 GB of Google One storage, shared across Drive, Gmail, and Photos
- 2x higher Gemini usage limits than the free plan
- Access to Gemini Omni and other AI features, subject to age and feature availability
- Unlimited uploads for study notebooks, interactive visualizations, and Gemini Live
Google can adjust what’s included in this plan, so treat the list above as a snapshot rather than a permanent spec sheet, and check the offer page for the current details before you sign up. One caveat that applies across this list: Google gates some AI features to accounts aged 18 and over, even though students can qualify for the offer from age 16. If you’re 16 or 17, you may not get full access to everything listed here until you turn 18.
Before you start: quick requirements
- A personal Google account (not a school-issued Workspace account)
- Current enrollment at an eligible higher-education institution
- A valid school email address for student verification, when requested
- A valid payment method accepted by Google Payments
- Access to Google’s official student offer page
Step 1: Check if you’re eligible
According to Google’s Offer Terms, you need to be at least 16 years old and currently enrolled at a higher-education institution in a country where Google AI Plus is supported, which currently includes Pakistan. You’ll also need a personal Google account and a payment method on file, and you can’t already have an active Google One subscription.
Who isn’t eligible
A few categories are excluded regardless of student status: members of a Google One family group, enterprise purchasers, discounted Pixel-bundle subscribers, anyone with a Google One subscription through a third party such as Google Fi, and supervised Google accounts. A school-issued Workspace for Education account also won’t work for this offer; it has to be a personal account.
Step 2: Open Google’s official student offer page
Go to Google’s student page for Pakistan or the direct redemption link on one.google.com, and sign in with your personal Google Account.
Important: use only Google’s official pages for this. Don’t enter your Google account credentials or payment details on any third-party site claiming to “activate” the offer for you.
Step 3: Verify your student status
Google uses SheerID for student-status verification. Google’s current Offer Terms specify that you must successfully verify your student status using a valid school email address when requested, and that Google may ask for other information for verification purposes. Have your school email address ready before you start, as Google may request it during the verification process.
Step 4: Add a payment method
Google requires a valid payment method on file before it activates the offer, even though nothing is charged during the free period. The method needs to be one Google Payments accepts for your account.
Step 5: Redeem and activate Google AI Plus
Once verification clears and a payment method is on file, follow the on-screen steps to activate the membership. The 12-month free period runs from the day you redeem it. Under Google’s current terms, the offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2026.
What happens after the free year?
Important: the membership automatically converts to a paid Google One subscription unless you cancel before the free period ends. Google charges the payment method on file at whatever the standard Google AI Plus price is in Pakistan at that time. Pricing can change, so rather than quoting a figure here, check the current renewal price shown on Google’s offer page or in your account settings before you redeem.
How to avoid being charged
Cancel the membership before the 12-month promotional period ends to avoid the automatic renewal charge.
- Open Google One and sign in with the account you used to redeem the offer.
- Go to your membership or subscription settings.
- Select the Google AI Plus membership.
- Choose the cancellation option and confirm.
Google’s interface changes from time to time, so the exact wording of these screens may differ slightly from what’s described here. If your free period is close to ending, it’s worth checking Google One directly rather than relying on this list alone.
Can’t verify your student status? Try these fixes
If verification doesn’t go through on the first try, double-check that you’ve entered your school email address correctly and that it matches the institution you selected. Google’s terms note that it may ask for further information to confirm eligibility. A request for additional information does not necessarily mean you’ve been rejected.
Important things to remember
- A personal Google account is required, not a school-issued one
- Student verification happens through SheerID
- A valid payment method is required at sign-up, even though the plan is free for 12 months
- The offer must currently be redeemed by December 31, 2026
- The subscription renews as a paid plan automatically unless you cancel first
Bottom line
If you’re an eligible student in Pakistan, the process itself is fairly short: sign in with a personal Google account, complete SheerID verification, add an accepted payment method, and redeem the Google AI Plus offer. The part worth planning around is the renewal. Note the date you redeem, and check your Google One membership before that date if you don’t want the subscription to continue as a paid plan.
