PM Youth Loan Scheme: Get Up to Rs. 7.5 Million with 25% Reserved Women Quota

3 min read

Stop waiting for the ‘right time’ to start your business. With a 25% reserved quota and Tier 1 interest-free loans, the PM Youth Loan Scheme is specifically designed to turn your micro-startup into a macro-success

In Pakistan, women are the backbone of the cottage industry and local commerce. Whether it’s a boutique, a home-based catering service, a beauty salon, or a small dairy farm, these “micro-entrepreneurs” often face one major hurdle: Capital.

The Prime Minister’s Youth Business & Agriculture Loan Scheme (PMYB&ALS) has changed the game by reserving a 25% special quota specifically for women.

1. Do You Fall Under the “Female Micro-Entrepreneur” Category?

You don’t need a large office or a factory to be an entrepreneur. You qualify if you are:

  • The Dreamer: You have a solid business idea and want to start from scratch.
  • The Scaler: You already run a small setup (e.g., selling clothes online, running a tuition center, or managing livestock) and need funds to buy more stock or machinery.
  • The Tech-Savvy: You are a freelancer or run an e-commerce store.
  • The Farmer: You are involved in poultry, dairy, or crop farming.

2. Are You Eligible?

To apply, you must meet these simple criteria:

  • Age: 21 to 45 years (the lower age limit is 18 years for IT and E-commerce businesses).
  • Nationality: Must hold a valid Pakistani CNIC.
  • Potential: You must demonstrate an “entrepreneurial potential” meaning you have a plan and the will to work.

3. Understanding the Tiers (How much can you get?)

The scheme is divided into three levels, depending on your needs:

TierLoan AmountInterest RateSecurity Required
Tier 1Up to Rs. 500,0000% (Interest-Free)Only personal guarantee
Tier 2Rs. 500,000 – Rs. 1.5 Million5% FixedOnly personal guarantee
Tier 3Rs. 1.5 Million – Rs. 7.5 Million7% FixedAs per bank policy (Collateral)

Note: For Tier 1 and 2, you don’t need to hand over property documents as “collateral” your own personal guarantee is often enough.

4. Key Benefits for Women

  • Dedicated Quota: 25% of all loans are reserved for women, ensuring your application gets priority.
  • Interest-Free Option: Tier 1 allows you to take half a million rupees without paying a single rupee in interest.
  • Grace Period: You can get up to 1 year of grace period (a time where you only pay the markup or nothing at all) to help your business get on its feet before full repayments start.
  • Long Tenure: You can pay back the loan over a period of up to 8 years.

5. How to Apply (Step-by-Step)

You do not need to visit a bank to start. The process is 100% online:

  1. Visit the Portal: Go to pmybals.pmyp.gov.pk.
  2. Fill the Form: Select your Tier and provide your CNIC, business details, and references.
  3. Upload Documents: You’ll need a digital copy of your CNIC, a recent photo, and a basic business plan (feasibility).
  4. Pay the Fee: A nominal processing fee of Rs. 100 is charged.
  5. Track Your Application: You can check the status of your application anytime on the same portal.
