PM Youth Loan Scheme 2026: How to Get Up to Rs. 7.5 Million for Your Business

4 min read

If you have a business idea but no money to start, the Government of Pakistan has a programme made exactly for you. The Prime Minister’s Youth Business & Agriculture Loan Scheme (PMYB&ALS) gives young Pakistanis access to loans at very low, or even zero interest rates to help them start or grow a business.

What Is the PM Youth Loan Scheme?

The PMYB&ALS is a federal government initiative that provides affordable loans to young Pakistanis who want to start a new business or expand an existing one. Loans are disbursed through 15 partner banks, including:

  • National Bank of Pakistan
  • Bank of Punjab
  • Bank Alfalah
  • Bank AL Habib
  • First Women Bank
  • Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL)

The government subsidises the interest rates, so borrowers pay far less than what a regular commercial bank would charge.

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a Pakistani citizen with a valid CNIC
  • You are between 21 and 45 years old
  • For IT or e-commerce businesses, the minimum age is 18 years (with a matriculation certificate)
  • You have a business idea or an existing small business
  • You have no loan default recorded with any bank
  • You are not a government employee

There is no minimum education requirement, whether you are primary pass or a postgraduate, you can apply.

25% Quota Reserved for Women

One of the most important features of this scheme is that 25% of all loans are reserved specifically for women. Female applicants receive priority processing, making this one of the most women-friendly financing programmes in Pakistan’s history.

How Much Can You Get? The Three Loan Tiers

The scheme is divided into three tiers based on how much funding you need:

  • Tier 1 — Up to Rs. 500,000: Completely interest-free at 0%. No collateral required, personal guarantee only.
  • Tier 2 — Rs. 500,001 to Rs. 1.5 Million: Fixed interest rate of 5%. No collateral required, personal guarantee only.
  • Tier 3 — Rs. 1.5 Million to Rs. 7.5 Million: Fixed interest rate of 7%. Collateral required as per bank policy.

Tier 1 is the most accessible option. You borrow up to Rs. 500,000 and return only what you took, no extra charges whatsoever.

The repayment period runs from 3 to 8 years, giving you ample time to get your business up and running. There is also a grace period of up to 1 year on Tier 1 and Tier 2 loans, meaning you do not have to begin repayments immediately after receiving the funds.

What Business Sectors Are Covered?

The scheme covers all major business sectors across Pakistan, including:

  • Retail and trade
  • Services, salons, repair shops, tuition centres, and similar businesses
  • IT and e-commerce
  • Manufacturing and cottage industry
  • Agriculture, crops, livestock, poultry, dairy, and fisheries

The entire application process is 100% online. There is no need to visit a bank to get started.
